1. Sampling, downsampling, color space, Entropic coding, Huffman coding, LZW coding, Run -- length coding, PDQ, DDC bitplane coding, chain coding. (allowance 3/2)
2. Arithmetic coding, binary arithmetic coding, Huffman - shift coding. (allowance 3/2)
3. Predictive coding. Block truncation coding, image interpolation, vector quantization. (allowance 3/2)
4. Discrete orthogonal transforms: Karhunen -- Loeve and SVD transforms, PCA, data approximation using transforms. (allowance 3/2)
5. Transform coding, JPEG, CTC - error-free and lossy compression, zonal filtering. (allowance 3/2)
6. Wavelet transforms for transform coding, subband video coding. (allowance 3/2)
7. Image segmentation: shape-adaptive and shape-independent coding. (allowance 3/2)
