Course objective: The course aims to provide thorough knowledge in the fundamental principles of mobile communications and theoretical background in coding and modulation schemes connected with theory of optimal receiver and synchronization with applications in mobile celular and satellite systems. A part of the curriculum is dedicated to introduction to an architecture of GSM cellular standard

Concise plan: The course cosits of following units; Main characteristics of signals in time and frequency domain; AWGN channel; Optimal baseband receiver for AWGN channel; Euclidean distance and signal space; Digital modulations for mobile and satellite systems; Convolutional codes in mobile and satellite systems; Architecture of GSM cellular systems
